Huawei Unveils Digital Talent Initiatives at MWC Barcelona 2024
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024, Huawei, a global leader in technology, announced groundbreaking digital talent initiatives at the Huawei Talent Summit, emphasizing its commitment to nurturing excellence in a digital world.
Vicky Zhang, Vice President of Huawei’s Corporate Communications Dept, expressed Huawei’s dedication to fostering digital talent globally. She highlighted the launch of two significant initiatives aimed at empowering youth and educators alike.
The first initiative unveiled was the global International Telecommunications Union (ITU) -Huawei Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme, encouraging youth aged 18 to 28 to submit ideas for community projects addressing the digital divide. The program offers funding, mentoring, and training for project implementation, emphasizing inclusivity and global participation.
In partnership with UNESCO’s Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), Huawei introduced a joint project focused on strengthening digital skills among literacy educators. UIL Director, Isabell Kempf, elaborated on the project’s objectives, emphasizing its impact on empowering educators and enhancing literacy teaching through technology.
The project, initially launched across countries of the Global Alliance for Literacy, will now extend to the Kingdom of Morocco, benefiting 10,000 youth and adult literacy teachers, trainers, and managers.
Representatives from international organizations such as ITU and UNESCO, alongside government officials from Greece, Kenya, and Mexico, attended the event, demonstrating widespread support for Huawei’s initiatives.
Female industry leaders, entrepreneurs participating in the Huawei Cloud Startup Program, and beneficiaries of Seeds for the Future and ICT competitions were also present, reflecting the diverse stakeholders involved in Huawei’s talent development endeavors.
Louis Mwape, Huawei Public Relations Manager in Zambia, highlighted Zambia’s engagement with Huawei’s talent development programs since 2008.
He underscored the significance of Huawei’s expansion of opportunities, including the recently launched Hakainde Hichilema Innovation Fund (HHIF), in providing young people with avenues for growth and innovation.
Huawei’s commitment to talent development is evident in its global reach, with projects implemented in over 150 countries, benefiting more than 2.83 million individuals.
