ZAMMSA Ramps Up Distribution of Essential Medicines
The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has intensified its distribution efforts for essential medicines and medical supplies.
As of Thursday, February 8th, 2024, ZAMMSA reported that they have covered 32% of the targeted distribution routes, marking a significant stride towards their goal.
With a target of completing distribution routes to 107 public health facilities by the end of the first quarter of 2024, ZAMMSA has already achieved 34 routes within just over a month.
This accelerated pace underscores the agency’s unwavering commitment to ensuring timely and scheduled delivery of critical medical resources to healthcare facilities nationwide.
The completed routes span various provinces including parts of Lusaka, Northwestern, Luapula, Western, Northern, and Southern Provinces.
ZAMMSA aims to reach all 3400 health facilities in Zambia by the end of the first quarter, ensuring essential medicines and medical supplies are readily available where needed.
Highlighting the current availability of essential medicines, ZAMMSA reports that critical supplies such as Intravenous Fluids (IV Fluids) crucial for cholera treatment are at a stock level of 100%.
Additionally, stock levels for Anti-Retroviral and Anti-Malaria Drugs are impressively above 94%, ensuring effective management of HIV/AIDS and malaria cases.
Moreover, laboratory stock positions are robust, with HIV Test Kits and Infection prevention products both sitting at 100% availability levels, indicating a comprehensive approach to healthcare management.
