Emirates Group Achieves Guinness Record with 144 Nationalities in Yoga

The Emirates Group has shattered the Guinness World Records title for the Most Nationalities in a Yoga Lesson, as hundreds of employees from 144 different nations united for a mesmerizing sunset yoga class in the Dubai desert.

The initiative, designed to kick-start the new year with a focus on employee well-being, highlighted the remarkable diversity within the Emirates Group, which boasts a workforce exceeding 110,000 employees.

The event, held at the expansive Al Lisaili Camp managed by Arabian Adventures, a brand under the Emirates Group, marked the first time the world record attempt took place in the desert, providing a unique and picturesque setting for the participants.

Representing nations as far-reaching as Chile, Peru, Mexico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Honduras, Mongolia, Tonga, and The Bahamas, the employees gathered to surpass the previous record set in 2023 in New York City, where 135 nationalities participated.

Oliver Grohmann, Senior Vice President Human Resources at Emirates Group, expressed pride in the celebration of the company’s diversity, stating, “Today we are celebrating the diversity of the Emirates Group.

Dubai is a sought-after destination renowned globally for its appeal as a place to live, work and invest, and we are proud to represent a home-grown company that’s truly multinational.”

The event featured a diverse group of participants, including UAE nationals and Dubai-based expats with various roles within the Emirates Group, such as Emirates cabin crew, dnata airport operations employees, safari guides at Arabian Adventures, and dnata Travel experts.

The yoga session, conducted by Emirates Group staff trained as yoga practitioners, emphasized wellness. To further promote a healthy mindset for the new year, a Senior Counsellor from the Group’s Psychology Unit and a certified mindfulness teacher held a wellbeing session.

The event also featured a member of the dnata Travel Group team as a DJ, providing chill-out music, and a colleague playing a ‘tongue drum’ associated with meditation and healing.

In line with sustainability efforts, yoga mats provided for attendees were made from biodegradable cork, and all staff were equipped with reusable water bottles, contributing to the Group’s commitment to a zero-waste event.

The Emirates Group looks forward to a continued focus on employee well-being in 2024, with plans for more initiatives in fitness, health, and overall wellbeing.
