Mpika Constituency Empowers 330 Students with 2024 Bursaries
Mpika Constituency in Muchinga Province has allocated a substantial sum of 3 million Kwacha for the education and empowerment of 330 vulnerable students.
Under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Bursaries, these students, consisting of 275 males and 55 females from various corners of Mpika Constituency, are set to embark on a journey of skill acquisition.
According to Teckler Mujala, the Social Economic Planner for Mpika Town Council, the excited youths are eagerly checking the public notice board at the Civic Center, where their names have been published.
The students, whose selection has generated a buzz in the community, are brimming with anticipation as they prepare to pursue diverse survival skills.
The range of programs includes Tailoring and Design, Food Production, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, General Agriculture, bricklaying, and several other key courses.
These courses will be offered through institutions accredited by the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (Teveta) across the country.
Mr. Mushota Mpundu, the Public Relations Officer at Mpika Town Council, emphasized the importance of this initiative in providing tangible opportunities for the youth to gain practical skills.
He stated that the investment in technical education aligns with the broader vision of empowering the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
The students, buoyed by the prospect of acquiring valuable skills, are expected to not only enhance their personal prospects but also contribute to the overall development of Muchinga Province.
Mr. Mushota emphasized the Mpika Constituency’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting vocational education stands as a testament to its dedication to creating a sustainable and prosperous future for its residents.
