Man Injured in Lusaka Shop Fire; Police Launch Manhunt in Separate Stabbing Incident
In the early hours of October 21st, 2023, a 23-year-old man named Ernest Chanda suffered burn injuries when the shop he was sleeping in caught fire behind City Market in Lusaka. The incident occurred between 01:30 and 02:00 hours.
After a report was received through the police emergency line, law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene, where they found that the Lusaka City Fire Station personnel had successfully extinguished the fire.
The victim, Ernest Chanda, was taken to Kanyama Level One Hospital to receive treatment for his burns.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
In a separate incident, the Lusaka Police have initiated a manhunt for Joseph Musukwa from Mtendere Compound.
He is being sought in connection with an incident of Unlawful Wounding that transpired on October 21st, 2023, at 01:15 hours in an unmarked house within Mtendere Compound.
The victim, Abigal Daka, 23 years old and the wife of the suspect, Joseph Musukwa, was allegedly stabbed with a knife during a domestic dispute. This resulted in a laceration on her stomach, causing her intestines to protrude.
A concerned citizen, who reported the incident, promptly transported the victim to Mtendere Clinic and subsequently informed the Mtendere Police Post.
The victim was later transferred to Levy Mwanawasa Hospital for medical treatment, where she is currently admitted, and her condition is reported to be unstable.
The manhunt for the suspect, Joseph Musukwa, is underway.
