Direct Lusaka–Manzini Flights to Cut Travel Time for Passengers
The Zambia Civil Aviation Authority has welcomed the introduction of direct flights between Lusaka and Manzini by Eswatini Air, describing the move as a positive development for regional connectivity, trade and tourism in Southern Africa.
Speaking during a press briefing on behalf of the Director General, CAA Director of Finance, Mulenga Bwalya, said the new route would strengthen economic ties and improve the movement of people and goods across the region.
“The introduction of direct air services between Lusaka and Manzini is a welcome development that will support economic growth and enhance connectivity,” he said.
The route, scheduled to commence on 1 April 2026, is expected to significantly cut travel time for passengers who previously relied on indirect connections between the two destinations.
Helen Ngwira Mwamba, General Manager of AirlinePros Zambia, said the new service addresses long-standing travel challenges between Zambia and Eswatini.
“This route provides a direct, efficient and reliable link between the two markets, opening up opportunities for business, government engagement and leisure travel,” she said.
Eswatini Air’s Director Commercial, Getaneh Woldemichael, described the development as an important step in expanding the airline’s footprint.
“This service creates new opportunities for trade, tourism and stronger connections between our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Zambia Tourism Agency, Abigail Shansonga, said the route is expected to boost Zambia’s tourism sector and support multi-destination travel within the region.
The launch reflects growing collaboration between aviation authorities, operators and industry stakeholders, including the Zambia Airports Corporation Limited, aimed at improving air access and driving regional market growth.
