Leah Nakazwe Kooma Appointed CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia
Leah Nakazwe Kooma has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, effective 1 April 2026, marking a significant leadership transition for the digital infrastructure provider.
The company, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, said the appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening its market position and accelerating growth in Zambia and the wider region.
With more than 20 years’ experience spanning telecommunications, financial services and media, Kooma is expected to steer the company’s next phase of expansion. Her appointment comes at a time when demand for digital infrastructure and connectivity solutions continues to grow across the country.
Wellington Makamure, Chief Executive Officer for Sub-Saharan Africa at Cassava Technologies, described Kooma’s leadership as critical to the company’s ambitions.
“Her proven ability to deliver results will drive Liquid Zambia’s next phase of growth,” he said.
Kooma began her career at Barclays Bank before joining Celtel, where she worked across several African markets. She later became part of the founding team at Vodafone Zambia in 2016, playing a key role in launching the country’s first 4G LTE network as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer.
In 2017, she joined MultiChoice Zambia as GOtv Commercial General Manager and subsequently rose through the ranks to serve as Chief Customer Officer and later Managing Director.
Speaking on her appointment, Kooma expressed confidence in the company’s future trajectory.
“I am very excited about joining the Liquid team. I believe that, together with my team, we can take it to the next level,” she said, noting that her background in sales, marketing and customer service has shaped her approach to leadership and stakeholder engagement.
Kooma holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales.
She also serves on several boards, including as Chairperson of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
