Afreximbank to Host 33rd Annual Meetings in Egypt

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced that its 33rd Annual Meetings (AAM2026) will take place in El Alamein, Egypt, from 21 to 24 June 2026.

Under the theme “Intra-African Trade and Industrialisation: Pathway to Economic Sovereignty”, the meetings will focus on strengthening regional value chains, boosting industrial transformation, and accelerating Africa’s economic resilience in an era of geopolitical uncertainty.

The event will convene Heads of State, government officials, policymakers, private sector leaders, financiers, academics, and international partners. Delegates will participate in strategic dialogues and engagements aimed at identifying priority projects and actionable programmes to reshape Africa’s trade landscape.

Dr George Elombi, President and Chairman of Afreximbank, emphasised the importance of intra-African trade, stating: “With current global turmoil, Africans must look inwards for solutions relevant to their challenges. We must reduce reliance on raw commodity trade, expand investment in processing, build regional value chains, and consume our own products to achieve sustainable growth.”

H.E. Mr Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, welcomed delegates, highlighting Egypt’s role as a regional hub: “Hosting AAM2026 in El Alamein reflects Egypt’s commitment to supporting African institutions, strengthening intra-African trade, and advancing the continent’s industrialisation.”

The meetings will offer delegates opportunities to connect with key decision-makers, explore trade finance and logistics solutions, access capital, and structure partnerships to advance bankable projects across Africa.
