ZDA and Imbono Forge Strategic Partnership to Drive Multi‑Sector Investment in Zambia
The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and global investment firm Imbono have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to unlock significant investment opportunities across multiple sectors in Zambia, signalling growing confidence in the country’s economic reforms and development agenda.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ZDA Director Albert Halwampa praised Imbono for its commitment to channel investment into Zambia’s priority economic sectors, including infrastructure development, energy, water resources, and the establishment of economic zones.
“This partnership represents a major step towards unlocking large-scale investment and accelerating job creation for Zambians,” Mr. Halwampa said. “Zambia is a strategic investment destination in central southern Africa, with a conducive environment for long-term growth. Your investment is safe here, and I can assure you that you will not regret your decision.”
Imbono Investment Chief Executive Officer Marcus Weyll reaffirmed the firm’s confidence in Zambia, highlighting the critical role of infrastructure as a driver of economic progress.
He revealed that the firm plans to invest USD 2 billion annually in the Southern African region, with Zambia set to receive a substantial portion of that investment.
“Infrastructure is a key enabler across sectors, which is why we have prioritised it within this partnership,” Mr. Weyll said.
Imbono, with offices in eight global locations including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, brings extensive experience in both emerging and developed markets. The MoU outlines collaboration across key sectors, including infrastructure, energy, water management, sustainable agriculture, and the creation and expansion of economic zones.
The partnership is expected to stimulate economic diversification, enhance industrial activity, and create employment opportunities across Zambia’s value chains, reinforcing the country’s position as a secure and attractive destination for foreign investment.
