Zambia, Mauritius to Deepen Digital Collaboration at ICT Business Forum

Zambia and Mauritius are set to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the technology sector through the upcoming Mauritius–Zambia ICT Business Forum, scheduled for 23 March 2026 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka.

The forum, organised by the Economic Development Board Mauritius in collaboration with the Zambia Development Agency, forms part of the Mauritius Africa Export of ICT Services Roadshow taking place across Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia from 16 to 25 March 2026.

The event will convene government officials, industry leaders, and ICT enterprises from both countries to explore investment opportunities and strategic partnerships aimed at advancing Africa’s digital transformation agenda.

Mauritius’ Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Avinash Ramtohul, is expected to outline his country’s vision for regional ICT collaboration. A delegation of eleven private sector companies from Mauritius will participate in business-to-business engagements with Zambian counterparts.

Zambia’s Minister of Science and Technology, Felix Mutati, will officiate at the forum and hold high-level bilateral talks aimed at strengthening government-to-government cooperation.

Director General of the Zambia Development Agency, Albert Halwampa, said the engagement comes at a critical time as Zambia accelerates its digital transformation and positions itself as a competitive destination for technology-driven investment.

He expressed confidence that the forum would foster partnerships that promote innovation, create jobs, and enhance the capacity of local enterprises.

The programme will include a showcase of Mauritian expertise in fintech, cybersecurity, e-governance, and digital transformation solutions. An afternoon session will focus on intensive B2B meetings, bringing together Mauritian firms, start-ups, and SMEs with more than 70 invited Zambian public and private sector entities.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, as well as the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, are also expected to participate.

The forum highlights the shared commitment of Zambia and Mauritius to leveraging technology as a driver of inclusive and sustainable economic development across the African continent.
