Mutati Urges Digital Transformation to Drive Zambia’s $60 Billion Vision

The Minister of Technology and Science, Honourable Felix Mutati, has highlighted the pivotal role of digital transformation in realising Zambia’s ambition to achieve a $60 billion economy by 2031.

Speaking at the 17th Annual General Meeting of the Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ), the Minister urged a decisive shift from fragmented systems to fully integrated digital platforms.

Hon. Mutati warned that isolated systems alone cannot deliver the efficiency and scalability required for national development. “Systems will not become platforms if they cannot handshake each other,” he stressed, emphasising the importance of interoperability across sectors.

According to the Minister, Zambia’s economic growth is closely tied to the adoption of robust digital solutions. Integrated platforms, he explained, would enhance productivity, streamline operations, and significantly reduce costs across industries, thereby accelerating the country’s development trajectory.

While expressing optimism about Zambia’s digital future, Hon. Mutati cautioned against complacency. He underlined the need to safeguard existing achievements, maintain strong leadership continuity, and accelerate the adoption of integrated digital systems to ensure sustained growth.

He warned that instability in leadership could threaten the progress already made, potentially undermining the country’s development goals.

Recognised as a leading advocate for digital transformation, Hon. Mutati called on stakeholders across the ICT sector and beyond to remain committed to the national vision.

He emphasised that collective effort, strategic alignment, and consistent leadership are critical to achieving Zambia’s economic aspirations.

In conclusion, the Minister delivered a clear message: Zambia must advance its digital agenda with determination and consistency. Achieving a $60 billion economy will require sustained commitment to innovation, integration, and forward-thinking leadership.
