ZDA Encourages Godrej to Establish Local Manufacturing in Zambia
The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has encouraged Godrej Enterprises Group to consider establishing local production facilities for security locks and related accessories in Zambia, as part of efforts to boost industrialisation and value addition.
ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa made the call during the celebration of Godrej’s 15th anniversary in Zambia and the launch of the new Godrej Neo Pro View digital lock. He urged the company to acquire a ZDA investment licence, highlighting the incentives available to licensed investors.
Mr Halwampa said the licence offers key benefits, including zero import duty on machinery and equipment, as well as accelerated depreciation of up to 100 per cent within the first five years on plant, machinery and equipment.
He noted that Zambia, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, has become one of the most attractive investment destinations in the region due to ongoing pro-business reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business.
Mr Halwampa further encouraged Godrej Enterprises Group to take advantage of Zambia’s strategic central location in Southern Africa, which positions the country as a regional trade hub with access to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the Southern African Development Community, and nine neighbouring countries.
The ZDA Director General also commended the company for building a trusted brand in the Zambian market and for its continued innovation, particularly through the introduction of the Godrej Neo Pro View digital lock, which he said has transformed the security solutions landscape.
He praised Godrej for 15 years of consistency, innovation and ambition, strong brand marketing, and resilience in market penetration, describing these attributes as indicators of sustained growth and long-term success in Zambia.
