Zambia Sugar Named Headline Sponsor of Zambia Safety Awards
Zambia Sugar Plc has been confirmed as the Headline Sponsor of the Zambia Safety Awards (ZASAA), reaffirming its commitment to workplace safety, employee wellbeing and sustainable industrial development in Zambia.
The partnership brings together one of the country’s most established agro-industrial companies and Zambia’s leading safety recognition platform, which promotes excellence in health, safety, environment and sustainability across the public and private sectors.
Other confirmed key sponsors for the awards include SeedCo, HIS Towers Zambia, GoviEx Uranium, Stefanutti Stocks Zambia, and Hydrotech Drilling and Exploration Zambia.
The Zambia Safety Awards is a national initiative that recognises organisations, professionals and institutions demonstrating leadership in accident prevention, regulatory compliance and the promotion of strong safety cultures. The platform also serves as a catalyst for continuous improvement through knowledge sharing, collaboration and accountability across sectors such as agriculture, mining, manufacturing, construction, energy and public service.
Commenting on the announcement, ZASAA Founder and Patron, Hellen Mwamba, said the partnership with Zambia Sugar marked an important milestone for the initiative.
“ZASAA was established to elevate safety from a compliance requirement to a leadership responsibility and a national priority, extending its impact deep into local communities,” Ms Mwamba said. “Having Zambia Sugar as our Headline Sponsor sends a strong signal that safety, sustainability and productivity must go hand in hand. This partnership strengthens our mission to recognise excellence, inspire improvement and ultimately protect lives across Zambia’s workplaces and communities.”
As Headline Sponsor, Zambia Sugar will support the delivery of the upcoming awards programme, including stakeholder engagement, industry participation and national visibility for safety leadership. The sponsorship aligns with the company’s internal safety values and broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments, particularly in occupational health, environmental stewardship and responsible operations.
The Zambia Safety Awards continue to play a critical role in recognising outstanding safety leadership and innovation, encouraging continuous improvement in workplace safety practices, fostering collaboration between industry, regulators and professionals, and promoting public awareness on accident prevention and risk management.
With the support of Zambia Sugar, ZASAA is expected to expand its reach and impact, reinforcing Zambia’s national safety agenda, strengthening economic resilience and contributing to the protection of workers across multiple industries.
The Zambia Safety Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 28 April 2026 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka. Nominations, which are currently open, will close on 31 January 2026.
