Luapula Expo 2026 to Unlock Province’s Investment Potential – Eng. Musonda

Luapula Province Minister, Eng. Nason Musonda, has described the forthcoming Luapula Investment Forum and Exposition, scheduled for 20 to 24 April 2026 in Mansa, as a defining opportunity to unlock the province’s vast but largely underutilised economic potential.

Speaking recently, Eng. Musonda said the Expo will provide a practical platform for both local and international investors to directly explore Luapula’s investment opportunities across key sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, tourism, mining, land, water resources and energy.

He noted that despite being richly endowed with natural resources, Luapula Province has historically made a modest contribution to the national economy, adding that Government is now determined to reverse this trend.

Eng. Musonda said the New Dawn Administration, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, has directed all provinces to harness their natural endowments and build strong provincial economies that contribute meaningfully to national gross domestic product (GDP).

The Minister revealed that Luapula will showcase major farming blocs, wetlands suitable for rice production and livestock, fisheries potential, and key tourism attractions such as Lumangwe and Ntumba Chushi waterfalls.

He added that the province’s extensive water bodies, including Lakes Bangweulu, Mweru and Mweru Wantipa, will also be highlighted.

Eng. Musonda expressed confidence that the Expo will attract foreign direct investment, stimulate industrial growth, and position Luapula as an emerging investment destination.

He further disclosed that preparations for the event are progressing at “lightning speed”, with Mansa designated as the main host city, while surrounding districts will support accommodation and hospitality services.

The Luapula Expo 2026 will be held under the theme “Unlocking Luapula’s Potential Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth” and is expected to be officially opened by President Hakainde Hichilema as Guest of Honour, highlighting Government’s commitment to investment-led development.

Eng. Musonda has since called on Zambian investors, including farmers from other provinces, as well as the international investment community, to take advantage of the Expo and invest in Luapula’s growing economic sectors.
