PUMA Partnership Helps Keep Zambia’s Fuel Supply Stable
The Ministry of Energy has praised PUMA Energy Zambia for its strong partnership with Government, saying the collaboration has played a key role in stabilising fuel supply and supporting economic activity across the country.
Speaking at the inaugural PUMA Dealer Gala held at the Sarovar Hotel, Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary – Energy, Professor Ephraim Munshifwa, said PUMA Energy’s investments, logistics capacity and wide dealer network have helped cushion Zambia against volatility in global fuel markets.
He noted that the stable supply of fuel has been critical for sectors such as agriculture, mining, transport and small-scale enterprises. Prof. Munshifwa added that the New Dawn Government values the private sector as a driver of economic growth and remains committed to providing a transparent and predictable regulatory environment.
He cited recently secured fuel supply arrangements with Tanzania as evidence of Government’s efforts to strengthen the petroleum supply chain.
PUMA Energy Zambia General Manager, Mr Zwelithini Mlotshwa, said the Dealer Gala was organised to appreciate dealers for their vital role in sustaining the company’s operations and supporting commerce nationwide. He described dealers as custodians of critical infrastructure that underpins economic activity.
“Our success depends on genuine collaboration. Partnership means listening to one another and supporting each other’s growth,” Mr Mlotshwa said, reaffirming PUMA Energy’s long-term commitment to Zambia.
PUMA Energy Retail Manager, Ms Wongani Vinkhumbo, said the gala recognised dealers for their resilience and unwavering support, especially during challenging periods in the fuel supply chain.
Prof. Munshifwa also encouraged oil marketing companies to work closely with Government in advancing Zambia’s energy transition, including the adoption of cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
The event brought together Government officials, regulators, PUMA Energy management, dealers, franchisees and transport partners to celebrate excellence and reinforce collaboration in the petroleum sector.
