Mentorship Key to Advancing Zambia’s Energy Sector, Says EIZ President

The President of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ), Eng. Wesley Kaluba, has highlighted the vital role of mentorship in shaping the next generation of energy professionals, describing it as a catalyst for innovation, ethical leadership, and sector-wide transformation.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony of the ZARENA Mentorship Programme Cohort 2, held on 29 November 2025 under the theme “Empowering Minds: Advancing Renewable Energy in Zambia,” Eng. Kaluba reflected on his own journey, crediting mentorship for expanding his vision beyond technical expertise and preparing him for leadership responsibilities.

He encouraged the graduates to apply their enhanced skills to national development, noting that they are “not just professionals, but agents of transformative change” in Zambia’s evolving energy landscape.

ZARENA Chairman, Professor Joseph Mutale, reaffirmed the organisation’s continued commitment to nurturing a highly skilled and innovative renewable energy workforce.

He praised the programme for fostering collaboration between academia and industry, saying it has produced problem-solvers capable of championing clean energy solutions nationwide.

Professor Mutale added that the mentorship initiative is playing an essential role in building a passionate and competent human resource base needed to advance Zambia’s renewable energy ambitions.
