Emirates, Rolls-Royce to Handle A380 Engine Maintenance In-House from 2027
Emirates has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rolls-Royce at the Dubai Airshow 2025 to perform Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) on the Trent 900 engines powering its Airbus A380 fleet from 2027.
The airline has also extended its TotalCare service agreement with Rolls-Royce for A380 engines into the 2040s.
Under the agreement, Emirates will build a new MRO facility, with the first engine induction scheduled for 2027. The airline will handle fan case repairs at the facility, while Rolls-Royce will continue to maintain module repair capabilities across its global network.
Ahmed Safa, Emirates’ Head of Engineering and MRO, said: “With plans to operate our A380 fleet into the 2040s, we wanted to secure our own engine maintenance capabilities.
This agreement with Rolls-Royce extends our partnership and brings the latest MRO technologies to Emirates’ Engineering Maintenance Centre, further supporting Dubai’s growing aerospace sector.”
Paul Keenan, Director of Commercial Aviation Aftermarket Operations at Rolls-Royce, added: “This partnership marks another milestone in expanding our global MRO capacity and capability by 2030. Emirates joining our network will enhance capacity and reinforces our commitment to delivering excellent products and services to our customers worldwide.”
