KCM and Arise in Purpose Network Empower Nampundwe Youth
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has reaffirmed its commitment to community empowerment through a strategic partnership with the Arise in Purpose Women Network, launching a programme designed to equip young people with practical and creative skills that foster innovation, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship.
Held under the theme “Discovering Self, Building Creativity, and Unlocking Skills,” the initiative brought together 60 youths aged 18 and above for a comprehensive programme focused on self-discovery, character development, and skill-building.
The training encouraged participants to identify their strengths, embrace individuality, and understand their purpose. Interactive sessions included creating vision boards, setting personal goals, and recognising talents, while the Teenage Mentorship Ideals segment guided youths on making positive life choices, nurturing responsible young men and women of virtue and value.
Participants also gained practical skills in balloon décor, gift wrapping, flower arranging, traditional décor, and event table setup, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and income-generating opportunities. The programme featured mentorship from renowned content creator Theresa Lyainiga, who trained youths in teamwork, communication, professionalism, and content creation.
One participant, Aramy Ngulube, expressed her gratitude, saying: “I never imagined I could turn something as simple as balloon décor into a business idea. This training has opened my eyes to new possibilities.”
KCM intends to replicate the initiative across all four of its operational areas, reinforcing its dedication to transforming communities through mentorship, skills development, and practical empowerment.
