ZACCI, Indian Embassy Partner to Unlock Bilateral Trade Opportunities
The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), in collaboration with the Indian Embassy, has hosted a Joint Trade and Investment Forum aimed at enhancing bilateral trade relations and unlocking fresh opportunities for businesses in both countries. The event took place at the Neelkanth Sarovar Premier Hotel in Lusaka.
In his address, Mr Alok Ranjan Jha, High Commissioner of India to Zambia, underscored India’s growing investment footprint in Africa and reaffirmed New Delhi’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Zambia in areas such as trade, technology, and industrial development.
Speaking on behalf of ZACCI President, Board Trustee Mr Paul Chisunka commended the partnership with the Indian Embassy in convening what he described as a high-impact forum.
He stressed that such platforms are vital for fostering innovation, promoting technology transfer, and strengthening commercial linkages between the two nations’ private sectors.
Presenting the private sector perspective, Mr Emmanuel Mumba, Acting Chief Executive Officer of ZACCI, outlined the country’s evolving business environment.
He highlighted reforms in the energy sector through open access and cost-reflective tariffs, policy stability in mining, and increased emphasis on value addition within manufacturing.
ZACCI reaffirmed its commitment to advancing private sector growth through strategic partnerships. The Chamber also acknowledged the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) for their active participation and insightful presentations on investment opportunities in Zambia.
