ZimZam 2025 to Accelerate Southern Africa’s Energy Investment Partnerships

Southern Africa’s energy future is set to take centre stage at ZimZam 2025, the Zimbabwe–Zambia Energy Projects Summit, taking place from 26 to 28 November at the Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya, Livingstone. The event will bring together governments, investors, and developers to fast-track bankable energy and mining projects across the region.

Hosted by Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC), fresh from issuing a $150 million green bond for 230 MW of solar projects, the summit will highlight investment opportunities, renewable energy projects, regional interconnections, and innovative financing solutions. It will also explore the role of solar, wind, and hydro power in a changing climate.

The summit arrives at a pivotal moment, as landmark initiatives such as the Chisamba 100MW Solar Farm, Great Zimbabwe Hydro Project, and the Zambia–Tanzania Interconnector (ZTIP) redefine regional cooperation while revealing challenges in transmission, bankability, and offtaker risk.

Guest of honour His Excellency Makozo Chikote, Minister of Energy for Zambia, will outline the country’s commitment to regional energy collaboration and investment. More than 40 developers have already confirmed participation, including Emesco, NOA Group, Axian Energy, Engie Energy Access, Voltalia, Anzana Electric Group, Globeleq, Scatec, Solarcentury, JCM Power, Pele Energy Group, and HDF Energy.

Owen Silavwe, Managing Director of CEC, said: “CEC’s support for the summit is a natural extension of our mission to deliver reliable energy and high-quality services while fostering strategic partnerships and advancing sustainable development across Africa. Our values of honesty, teamwork, and a ‘can-do’ attitude shape how we collaborate with stakeholders and approach regional integration.”

ZimZam 2025 is expected to serve as a key platform for scaling renewables, securing financing, and building stable energy markets, helping turn regional energy commitments into operational projects that drive economic growth.
