FQM Champions Wellness and Unity in 2025 Mine to Mine Cycling Race
First Quantum Minerals (FQM), through its subsidiary Kansanshi Mining Plc, has reaffirmed its commitment to health, community, and development by hosting the 2025 Mine to Mine Cycling Competition, a gruelling 140 km race from Solwezi to Kalumbila.
Launched in 2016 as an internal wellness initiative, the event has evolved into a celebrated annual fixture, attracting 130 riders from Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and South Africa.
Kansanshi Mining Plc’s Corporate Affairs Specialist, Clinton Masumba, emphasised that the race is about more than athletic achievement.
“It’s about building a culture of health and wellness, fostering stronger community bonds, and stimulating economic activity in Solwezi through tourism and trade, while also creating opportunities for young people in sport and education,” he said.
FQM invests over K30 million annually in sports development across Zambia, supporting talent identification, career pathways, and scholarships. The cycling competition has become a platform to inspire young athletes and encourage active lifestyles.
The 2025 edition showcased determination, teamwork, and inclusivity, uniting professional cyclists, employees, and community members in a shared spirit of resilience. From the start line in Solwezi to the finish in Kalumbila, participants proved that sport can drive not only physical fitness but also community progress.
