Milupi Commissions New Pavilion at Agricultural Showgrounds
The Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Charles Milupi, has officially commissioned a newly built pavilion at the Agricultural and Commercial Showgrounds in Lusaka, describing it as a symbol of the government’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure-led economic transformation.
The K2.2 million facility, constructed by Fungal Investments Limited, replaces the old structure that was demolished to pave way for a modern pavilion equipped to host exhibitions and other national events.
The commissioning took place ahead of the 97th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show, which is running under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change.”
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Milupi said President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration prioritizes economic growth as a pathway to delivering vital services such as education, healthcare, and social protection.
He stressed that inclusive growth hinges on infrastructure development reaching all corners of the country.
“To unlock Zambia’s full potential, we must invest in roads, railways, bridges, and airports that connect remote but resource-rich areas to national and global markets,” he said. “This pavilion is more than just a building, it’s a platform for showcasing how infrastructure drives access, investment, and transformation.”
The Minister emphasized that Zambia’s ambitious economic targets, such as producing 10 million metric tons of maize and three million tons of copper, require modern and reliable infrastructure.
He urged infrastructure players to actively participate in future exhibitions to demonstrate how their work supports the national agenda.
Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative Society President Dr. Bernard Moonga commended the Ministry for delivering a quality facility aligned with the Society’s mission to modernize the exhibition experience.
“This pavilion is a critical part of our broader effort to offer a world-class platform for exhibitors,” Dr. Moonga said. “We are also exploring ways to ensure the structure serves the public throughout the year by hosting cultural, agricultural, and preservation events.”
