Zambia Launches Mandarin Tourism Guide to Boost Chinese Investment

Zambia’s tourism sector has received a major boost with the official launch of the Chinese-language version of its Tourism Investment Guide, a strategic move aimed at attracting Chinese investors and visitors to the country.

The launch event, held at the Ministry of Tourism Headquarters, was a joint effort between the Zambian government and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

The guide, titled “Tourism Doing Business, Investing in Zambia,” is now accessible in Mandarin, giving Chinese stakeholders a detailed overview of investment opportunities, incentives, and Zambia’s vibrant tourism assets.

Tourism Minister Honourable Rodney Sikumba described the translated guide as a “strategic tool” to drive Chinese participation in Zambia’s tourism economy.

“This guide in Mandarin is more than just a document,” he said. “It reflects our commitment to mutual respect, cultural diplomacy, and economic cooperation with the Chinese government and people.”

Sikumba also acknowledged China’s continued support to Zambia through initiatives in cultural exchange, infrastructure, and skills development.

Echoing the sentiment, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, His Excellency Mr. Han Jing, hailed the launch as a tangible step forward in deepening bilateral collaboration under frameworks such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

“This guide will be an essential resource for Chinese businesses interested in Zambia’s thriving tourism sector,” said Ambassador Han.

Discussions are already underway for further cooperation, including a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism and Cultural Cooperation, operationalisation of Zambia’s Approved Destination Status (ADS) in China, and new ventures in museums, language training, and academic exchanges.
