AUC Chairperson Reaffirms Africa’s Push for Equal Partnership with U.S.

African Union Commission Chairperson H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf has reaffirmed Africa’s commitment to a bold and equal partnership with the United States, declaring that the continent is not seeking aid but co-created solutions.

Speaking at the USAfrica Summit 2025 in Luanda, Youssouf emphasized Africa’s readiness for transformative growth, driven by its 1.3 billion people, abundant natural resources, and rising innovation across sectors.

“We’re not seeking aid, but building co-created solutions,” he stated, highlighting Africa’s focus on sustainable development and investment-led progress.

The Chairperson outlined the AU’s priorities in strengthening private sector development across the continent, citing key areas such as agribusiness in West Africa and fintech in East Africa.

He also pointed to open investment opportunities in manufacturing, digital technology, energy, and agro-industry.

He noted that initiatives like the AU Private Sector Forum, SME and startup legislation, and the AU Digital Strategy are paving the way for inclusive and sustainable prosperity.

“This should not just be a summit, but a call to action,” Youssouf said. “Together, let’s walk the pathways to prosperity—with unity, purpose, and Agenda 2063 as our guide.”

The summit continues this week with high-level sessions focused on trade, infrastructure, climate cooperation, and regional security.
