Zambia’s Mining Sector Open for Business, Says Minister Kabuswe at ZAMII 2025 Launch

Zambia’s mining sector is ready to welcome global partnerships, investment, and innovation, declared Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Paul Kabuswe during the official media launch of the Zambia Mining and Investment International Conference (ZAMII) 2025, held last night in Kitwe.

Speaking to a packed gathering of stakeholders and press, Minister Kabuswe reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, infrastructure development, and responsible mining as core pillars of national growth.

“Zambia is open for business,” said Mr. Kabuswe, adding that this year’s ZAMII will be hosted under the transformative theme: “Unlocking Africa’s Wealth: Advancing Sustainable Mining, Beneficiation, and Value Addition.”

ZAMII 2025, scheduled to run from 6th to 10th October at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, is set to bring together global leaders, investors, and policymakers to promote sustainable development and technological innovation in Zambia’s mining sector.

The Minister noted that last year’s edition attracted over 2,000 delegates and led to landmark agreements, including the Saudi Arabia-Zambia Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mining cooperation.

This year’s event, he said, will focus on expanding investment in critical minerals, promoting local value addition, and strengthening strategic infrastructure partnerships.

Also speaking at the event, Mines Permanent Secretary Dr. Hapenga Kabeta emphasized ZAMII’s growing importance as a platform to tackle sectoral challenges, attract foreign direct investment, and ensure that mineral wealth directly benefits all Zambians.

“ZAMII remains a bridge between policy, investment, and opportunity,” said Dr. Kabeta. “It connects key decision-makers, showcases our mineral potential, and helps shape inclusive policies for sustainable economic growth.”
