Zambia Reaffirms Strong Commitment to Tourism Growth at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025

Zambia has reiterated its unwavering commitment to promoting tourism growth and positioning the country as a top destination on the global map. This comes as a high-powered Zambian delegation, led by the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Rodney Sikumba, participates in the prestigious Africa’s Travel Indaba (ATI) 2025, taking place in Durban, South Africa.

Upon arrival, Minister Sikumba expressed delight at the impressive turnout of Zambian private sector stakeholders, calling it a strong indication of the country’s dedication to showcasing its tourism potential internationally.

“It is encouraging to see such a huge participation from the Zambian private sector at one of the continent’s largest travel trade shows. This level of engagement will have a positive knock-on effect on the growth and development of Zambia’s tourism sector,” said Hon. Sikumba.

The Minister is expected to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with global tourism leaders to explore partnerships, attract investment, and promote Zambia’s unique tourism offerings to a wider audience.

Supporting the Minister’s sentiments, Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Mrs. Inonge Mwenya, praised the country’s strong representation at the event.

“The Africa Travel Indaba is more than just a trade show—it is a catalyst for economic empowerment and sustainable tourism development. It brings together key players from across the globe to celebrate Africa’s rich tourism heritage and unlock future opportunities for countries like Zambia,” she said.

This year, the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA), in collaboration with 41 Zambian tourism operators, is actively participating in ATI 2025, which is hosted at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban. The event attracts buyers, media, and exhibitors from across the globe, offering a premium platform to promote African tourism products.

Preceding the main exhibition is the Business Opportunity Networking Day (BONDay), a forum for thought leadership and discussions on global tourism trends, hosted in partnership with international tourism bodies.

Africa’s Travel Indaba, owned by South African Tourism, remains one of the continent’s flagship events, offering market access and visibility for African destinations aiming to expand their global footprint.
