Post Bank, MTN Uganda Pioneer SASE Banking Tech

Post Bank Uganda has taken a bold leap in digital innovation by becoming the first financial institution in the country to successfully implement MTN Uganda’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) Business solution.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting marking the conclusion of a six-month Proof of Concept (POC) pilot in partnership with MTN Uganda and Huawei.

The advanced SASE framework, which combines network efficiency and cyber security into a unified, cloud-delivered model, has significantly improved the bank’s operational efficiency, network security, and customer experience across two pilot branches—with plans to scale further.

Edgar Ntwali, Manager of Business Technology Infrastructure at Post Bank, described the deployment as a “game-changer,” emphasizing that the solution has enhanced service delivery, operational reliability, and cost-effectiveness through features like automated failovers and centralized network management.

Ibrahim Senyonga, MTN Uganda’s General Manager for Enterprise Business, echoed the excitement, saying, “We’re proud to support Post Bank on this pioneering journey. Our collaboration with Huawei on SASE and SD-WAN has proven revolutionary for enterprise ICT solutions in Uganda.”

Janey Rachel Nakato, Chief Technical Officer at Post Bank, highlighted the strategic intent behind adopting the SASE solution: “This aligns with our vision to digitize operations and improve customer service. With this success, we’re better positioned to roll out paperless banking and ensure secure, high-speed connectivity across branches.”

Nicholas Mpanga, MTN Uganda’s Senior Consultant for Managed Network Solutions, explained that SASE is a powerful framework integrating SD-WAN with security components such as Zero Trust, Cloud Security, and Secure Web Gateways. Powered by global leaders like Huawei, Cisco, and Fortinet, the solution is tailored for enterprises that prioritize data protection, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
