KCM Urges Youths to Be Innovative and Drive National Development
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager, Brian Siatubi, has urged the youth of Chingola to engage in activities that foster development and provide innovative solutions to national challenges.
His remarks came during the KCM-sponsored Chingola District Youth Indaba, organized by Youth In Action Chingola (YIAC), as part of this year’s Youth Day celebrations.
The Indaba, themed “Reducing Development Inequalities and Promoting Equitable Access to Leadership and Democratic Governance for All Youths,” saw youth leaders gather to discuss impactful ideas for positive change.
Siatubi emphasized KCM’s commitment to supporting young people involved in developmental activities, noting that the youth are the backbone of the nation and key to solving pressing issues.
“KCM believes in promoting youth who engage in activities that enhance the development process because they form the pillar of our nation,” Siatubi said. He highlighted programs such as the Chingola Leather Cluster workshop and the $100,000 scholarship program, both designed to support youth empowerment and ensure growth in KCM’s operational areas.
YIAC Chairperson, Boldwin Chinyama, echoed Siatubi’s sentiments, stating that the Indaba was not just a gathering, but a call to action for the youth to realize their potential and actively contribute to economic growth.
“The future prosperity of our nation and its mineral resources hinge on the active involvement of young people,” Chinyama said, thanking KCM for its continued support of youth development.
In celebration of National Youth Day, KCM recognized the outstanding contributions of 24 youth from various regions, including Konkola, Nchanga, Corporate, Smelter, Nkana, and Nampundwe. These awards honor the youth for their dedication and efforts toward the growth and success of KCM.
The company continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Zambia’s youth, as they are encouraged to innovate and lead in the nation’s development journey.
