President Hichilema Concludes State Visit to Egypt

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has concluded a successful state visit to Egypt, where he explored avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and energy.

As part of the visit, President Hichilema and his delegation toured the iconic Great Pyramids of Giza, drawing inspiration from Egypt’s long-standing heritage preservation and its economic benefits from tourism.

The President highlighted Zambia’s interest in learning from Egypt’s approach to safeguarding historical sites while leveraging them for economic growth.

“We are inspired by the ingenuity, vision, and engineering excellence of Egyptian ancestors in building the Great Pyramids. This same mindset is reflected in the construction of Cairo’s new Administrative Capital,” President Hichilema stated.

During the visit, Zambia and Egypt signed agreements to foster collaboration on infrastructure development, with the aim of enhancing Zambia’s own construction ambitions. The agreements are expected to facilitate knowledge exchange and investment partnerships in key sectors.

The Zambian delegation also participated in the Egypt-Zambia Business Forum, which saw over 40 Zambian companies engage in trade and investment discussions with Egyptian counterparts.

As he prepared to return to Zambia, President Hichilema called on citizens to continue supporting the government’s efforts to attract investment and drive national development.

“Our state visit has been fruitful, and Zambians can expect great strides in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, and energy. We urge citizens to continue praying for our efforts to deliver more gains for the people,” he said.
