Liquid Telecom Donates 1,300 Pine Trees to Support Zambia’s National Tree-Planting Season
Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia has donated 1,300 pine tree seedlings in support of the 2025/26 National Tree-Planting Season. The donation aligns with this year’s theme, “Planting for Resilience,” which emphasizes the critical role of trees in mitigating drought, ensuring food security, and improving household incomes.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Hon. Mike Mposha, expressed his appreciation for Liquid Telecom’s contribution.
He stated, “I’d like to start by expressing my gratitude to Liquid Telecom for their generous support. This partnership demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and aligns with Zambia’s Eighth National Development Plan and our ministry’s strategy for 2022-2026.”
The minister highlighted that tree planting is a crucial strategy in addressing the severe drought that has affected Zambia, leading to a national disaster declaration by His Excellency, President Hakainde Hichilema. The drought has had devastating effects on communities, agriculture, and water resources.
The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has called upon stakeholders across various sectors to actively participate in tree planting efforts. Liquid Telecom’s donation signifies the private sector’s role in fostering climate resilience and sustainable development.
Hon. Mposha urged all Zambians, including schools, communities, and private sector players, to join forces in combating climate change. He emphasized that collective action through tree planting initiatives is essential to securing the country’s environmental future and combating the adverse effects of climate change.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability, stating that environmental conservation is a core part of their corporate social responsibility strategy. The company encouraged other organizations to contribute to national efforts in combating climate challenges through similar initiatives.
