Emirates SkyCargo Expands Capacity by 15% in 2025 to Meet Rising Global Demand
Emirates SkyCargo has begun 2025 with a 15% increase in cargo capacity compared to January 2024, bolstered by strategic investments to cater to surging global demand.
The freight division of Emirates Airline has wet-leased two additional Boeing 747 freighters and received its first production-built Boeing 777 freighter, part of a broader plan to expand its fleet to 21 aircraft by December 2026.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, stated:
“Throughout 2024, we made significant investments in new and leased freighter aircraft to address evolving supply chain and air cargo demands worldwide. Enhancing our cargo capabilities supports Dubai’s Economic Agenda, helping us expand operations and reach new destinations.”
The two wet-leased Boeing 747 freighters, obtained through a partnership with Compass Group, provide immediate capacity to meet demand, particularly in eCommerce shipments from Asian markets.
In addition to these leases, Emirates SkyCargo’s growing fleet includes 10 owned Boeing 777Fs and six wet-leased Boeing 747s, with 13 more 777Fs on order for delivery through 2026.
New fleet additions have allowed Emirates SkyCargo to expand its freighter network to 38 destinations, including a weekly service to Copenhagen, Denmark. The recently launched A350 passenger aircraft also contributes to bellyhold cargo capacity, offering up to 12 tonnes per flight.
The division continues to capitalize on Emirates’ extensive widebody passenger network, connecting key global markets, including Madagascar, Uganda, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Australia.
This seamless integration ensures reliable transport of goods worldwide, positioning Dubai as a global logistics hub and driving the next phase of Emirates SkyCargo’s growth.
