MYSA Strengthens Global Partnerships to Boost Zambia’s Creative Industry

The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts (MYSA), led by Permanent Secretary Mr. Fumba Chama, is intensifying efforts to advance Zambia’s creative industry by engaging key international partners.

In a series of strategic meetings, Mr. Chama held discussions with British Council Country Director Dr. Lloyd Anderson and Swedish Ambassador to Zambia Mr. Johan Hallenborg, focusing on transforming the arts sector into an economic powerhouse.

The meeting with the British Council explored preparations for the 2024 Creative Business Summit, slated for June 18–21. This landmark event will bring together participants from various African countries, fostering regional collaboration and innovation in the creative industries.

The parties also deliberated on the construction of the National Arts Centre at the University of Zambia, a project aimed at boosting infrastructure for the arts.

“The government is committed to empowering young Zambians and building a vibrant arts economy through targeted investments and strong partnerships,” emphasized Mr. Chama.

The Ministry expressed gratitude for the British Council’s continued support in initiatives such as the National Arts Policy and previous Creative Business Summits.

In a separate meeting, Ambassador Hallenborg reaffirmed Sweden’s willingness to collaborate on creating sustainable business opportunities within Zambia’s creative sector.

He praised Zambia’s efforts in leveraging arts for national development and expressed readiness to explore joint cultural projects.

“These partnerships underscore our dedication to transforming the arts and culture sector into a key contributor to Zambia’s economy,” said Mr. Chama.
