Hon. Haimbe Leads Zambian Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Morocco
Zambia and Morocco have cemented their bilateral relations through the inaugural Zambia-Morocco Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) held in Laayoune.
Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led the Zambian delegation, while the Moroccan team was headed by H.E. Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.
The meeting, held on December 13, 2024, resulted in the signing of critical Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in education, justice, mining, trade, and tourism.
A Joint Communique reaffirmed both nations’ strategic partnership, supported by His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation and economic growth.
Hon. Haimbe lauded the deep-rooted ties between Zambia and Morocco, emphasizing their shared values and active roles in regional and international organizations.
He highlighted the JPCC as a platform to evaluate the 2023–2025 Morocco-Zambia Roadmap of Cooperation and identify new collaborative opportunities.
Economic cooperation, peace, and security were underscored as pivotal for mutual growth. The Ministers agreed to hold the JPCC’s second session in Lusaka, with dates to be finalized through diplomatic channels.
This historic partnership aims to position Zambia and Morocco as key drivers of regional cooperation, trade, and development.
