With the country gearing up for its general elections in September 2025, Mrs. Ndau expressed hope for the timely deployment of the SADC Electoral Advisory Council (SEAC) and SEOM teams to ensure the smooth and democratic conduct of the elections.
Further commending SADC’s engagement with International Cooperating Partners (ICPs), Mrs. Ndau praised the Secretariat’s efforts in fostering collaboration to support regional integration. She also noted the region’s progress in industrialization despite the challenges and highlighted the need to deepen integration efforts.
In response, H.E. Mr. Magosi congratulated Mrs. Ndau on her appointment and acknowledged Malawi’s significant role in advancing peace, security, and development within SADC.
He particularly lauded the country’s contribution to peacekeeping operations in the DRC and emphasized Malawi’s agro-processing potential due to its fertile lands and favorable climate, which could significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth.
