National Forensic Authority Launches Key Guidelines to Enhance Justice System
The National Forensic Authority has unveiled comprehensive guidelines for the crime scene recovery of evidential material for DNA analysis, aimed at enhancing forensic operations in Zambia.
Speaking at the launch, Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Josephs Akafumba emphasized that the guidelines will ensure meticulous handling, preservation, and analysis of evidence.
He noted that this initiative aligns with international best practices and reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening forensic services.
“This will not only enhance the resolution of cases but also build public confidence in the integrity of our justice system,” Mr. Akafumba stated, highlighting significant investments in forensic service quality.
The event also marked the introduction of the In-House Code of Ethics and the Gifts and Benefits Policy, emphasizing the authority’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and transparency.
Executive Director Brig. Gen. Prof. Lawson Simapuka reaffirmed the authority’s dedication to ethical principles and organizational excellence. “These policies reflect our unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity,” he said.
Director Corporate Services Sandra Ndhlovu extended gratitude to the government and stakeholders, noting that the launch aligns with Zambia’s vision for maintaining a culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all workplaces.
