Zambia Strengthens Support for Digital Entrepreneurs with Launch of E-Mark Innovation Hub
Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs in creating innovative solutions to address national challenges such as climate change and power deficits.
Speaking at the launch of the E-Mark Innovation Hub in Lusaka, Mr. Mutati highlighted the significance of fostering creativity and resilience in the entrepreneurial space.
He praised E-Mark founder Emmanuel Mwanza for his dedication and relentless drive, calling the hub a beacon of innovation and sustainability. “This is a testament to the growth of Zambia’s digital ecosystem, which is now ranked second in Southern Africa for its robust startup activities and digital AI strategy,” said Mr. Mutati.
He emphasized Zambia’s competitive advantage in extensive fiber connectivity and indigenous creativity, supported by an enabling legal framework.
The minister urged entrepreneurs to create conducive work environments that inspire ideas and real-world digital solutions while encouraging E-Mark to extend its reach across the country.
E-Mark founder Emmanuel Mwanza shared that the company has achieved over 100% growth in three years, creating 25 direct jobs for young Zambians and advancing digital inclusion. “Our journey is a testament to the power of resilience and collaboration,” he stated.
MTN Fintec CEO Komba Malukutila commended E-Mark’s collaborative efforts and underscored the importance of teamwork in driving digital transformation. “Collective support among digital entrepreneurs is crucial for achieving sustainable digital inclusion,” he remarked.
