Zambia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr. Duncan Mulima, also accredited to Yemen, officially presented his Letters of Credence to the Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, His Excellency Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Aden City, Yemen.

During this formal diplomatic exchange, Dr. Al-Alimi conveyed his appreciation for the commitment expressed by Zambian President, His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, to strengthen bilateral relations.

Dr. Al-Alimi expressed support for Ambassador Mulima’s role and stated Yemen’s readiness to provide Zambia with technical expertise in groundwater management for agriculture—a sector Yemen continues to prioritize despite ongoing conflict.

Ambassador Mulima highlighted his readiness to deepen the partnership, referencing Zambia’s commitment to fostering global cooperation and emphasizing the benefits Zambia has experienced through international partnerships, including recent debt restructuring.

He echoed President Hichilema’s support for enhanced high-level dialogue with Yemen and other international stakeholders to reinforce economic and diplomatic alliances.

Both leaders also shared their concerns about regional security, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful resolution to the Yemeni conflict within the United Nations’ framework. Ambassador Mulima reiterated Zambia’s support for UN resolutions aimed at achieving lasting peace in Yemen and stability in the Gulf region.

The meeting concluded with a focus on bolstering bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture, and the expectation that this new diplomatic phase will open doors to future collaborations benefiting both Zambia and Yemen.
