Emirates Celebrates International Coffee Day with 170,000 Kilograms of Coffee Consumed Annually

In celebration of International Coffee Day on October 1, Emirates highlights its coffee-loving customer base, revealing that over 170,000 kilograms of coffee are consumed across its global operations each year. This impressive figure reflects the airline’s commitment to offering premium, artisan coffee experiences to passengers in the air and in lounges worldwide.

A remarkable 130,000 kilograms of coffee are served onboard Emirates flights annually, with First Class passengers enjoying a signature Arabic coffee blend created in partnership with local producer Mattina. The blend is crafted using the finest Arabica beans from Brazil’s Cerrado de Minas region, complemented by cardamom from Guatemala and subtle hints of saffron to replicate the traditional Emirati Qahwa.

Emirates offers a wide range of coffee choices to suit all passengers, including Lavazza, Coffee Planet, and bespoke options created for special occasions. First and Business Class customers have access to an exclusive Lavazza Italian coffee menu, featuring cappuccinos, espressos, macchiatos, and more, while Economy passengers enjoy complimentary coffee with their meals.

In the Emirates Lounges at Dubai International Airport, 26,000 kilograms of coffee are brewed each year. The First Class Lounge boasts a dedicated coffee counter where customers can explore an ever-changing selection of single-origin blends from around the world, with beans from Colombia, Burundi, and Brazil regularly featured.

Globally, Emirates’ 34 luxurious lounges serve over 2.1 million customers annually, with an additional 14,000 kilograms of coffee consumed.

To ensure a consistently high-quality coffee experience, Emirates Cabin Crew undergo specialized coffee training. This includes learning about the origins and nuances of various coffee blends, and how to serve the perfect cup to suit each passenger’s preference. First Class guests are treated to coffee in Royal Doulton fine bone china mugs, while Business Class passengers enjoy their beverages in elegant bone china.

By providing world-class coffee offerings and personalized service, Emirates ensures that passengers can relax and revive with exceptional coffee experiences on every flight and in every lounge.
