Kagem Mining Boosts Healthcare in Lufwanyama
Kagem Mining Limited has once again demonstrated its commitment to improving community healthcare by donating vital medical equipment and supplies to Nkana Health Centre, which serves over 15,000 local residents.
The latest contribution, valued at ZMW 70,130, includes blood pressure apparatus, glucose monitors, thermometers, ward linen, and cleaning materials.
Mrs. Bwalya Nkunde, Nurse-in-Charge at Nkana Health Centre, expressed her gratitude, noting that the supplies will significantly enhance patient care.
Kagem also repaired crucial equipment, such as the health centre’s incinerator, and provided fuel and transport for medical missions.
In addition, the company recently donated 20 bicycles, worth ZMW 89,000, to support field workers in reaching remote areas during its ‘End Malaria’ campaign.
Kagem’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Irvine Mwitwa, highlighted the importance of corporate involvement in healthcare delivery, especially in rural regions where challenges like distance and lack of resources hinder access to quality care.
The mining company has a longstanding relationship with Nkana Health Centre, having funded its expansion in 2016 and supported numerous healthcare initiatives ever since.
Kagem continues to invest in projects that benefit the Lufwanyama community, focusing on health, education, and sustainable livelihoods.
