Zambia Showcases Vast Tourism and Investment Opportunities at Tourism Expo Japan 2024
Zambia’s participation in the recently concluded Tourism Expo Japan 2024 has been hailed as a major success by the country’s Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Tobias Mulimbika. The Expo, which saw Zambia engage with over 5,000 Japanese nationals, presented a unique platform to showcase Zambia’s rich tourism offerings and attractive investment opportunities.
Dr. Mulimbika emphasized Zambia’s growing prominence as a premier tourist destination, particularly for its world-renowned natural wonders such as the Victoria Falls, the vast wilderness of Kafue National Park, and the serene beauty of Lake Tanganyika.
He expressed optimism about the rise in interest from Japanese tourists, stating, “Our active participation in the Expo has already sparked positive engagements, and I am confident we will see an increase in Japanese tourists visiting Zambia.”
He further highlighted Zambia’s strategic location, encouraging Japanese travelers to consider Zambia as part of a broader Southern African travel experience, noting plans for a future Southern African Development Community (SADC) visa to facilitate seamless regional tourism.
In addition to tourism, Zambia’s presence at the Expo also highlighted its favorable investment climate. Dr. Mulimbika pointed to opportunities in infrastructure, renewable energy, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) as key areas for Japanese investors.
“Zambia’s shift toward renewable energy, including small-scale mini-grids and net metering systems, offers exciting prospects for Japanese companies,” he said.
Ambassador Mulimbika concluded by expressing confidence that Zambia’s participation in the Expo would lead to tangible results, fostering long-term partnerships between Zambia and Japan in both tourism and investment.
