Ministers and Energy Leaders to Convene at AOW 2024 to Shape Africa’s Energy Future

More than 80 African ministers and senior officials are set to join over 1,600 energy-sector leaders at the upcoming Africa Oil Week (AOW): Investing in African Energy event in Cape Town, running from October 7-10, 2024.

This gathering, Africa’s premier oil, gas, and energy event, will attract top delegates from across the continent, as well as C-suite executives from over 760 energy companies, to discuss critical developments in Africa’s energy landscape.

Key attendees will include government ministers from countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, Namibia, Mozambique, DRC, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, and many more. The event will also feature high-level delegations from national oil companies, alongside multilateral bodies like the African Union (AU), African Energy Commission (AFREC), and the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).

The event will kick off with an exclusive ministerial symposium focusing on fostering innovation, attracting investment, and promoting sustainable growth in Africa’s oil, gas, and energy sectors. High-level discussions will cover themes like expanding gas value chains, new energy technologies, and access to finance, aiming to drive long-term solutions for Africa’s energy transition.

“We are thrilled to welcome such a high calibre of delegates to this year’s AOW event,” said Paul Sinclair, CEO of Sankofa Events. “Given Africa’s recent major oil and gas discoveries, coupled with the need for energy transition, AOW provides the platform to shape the continent’s energy future.”

The event will conclude with a celebration of AOW’s 30th anniversary at Groot Constantia Vineyard, marking three decades of collaboration and investment in Africa’s energy sector.
