MCC Approves $758 Million in Regional Energy and Agricultural Development Compacts for Côte d’Ivoire and Zambia
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Board has approved two major compacts: a $300 million regional energy compact for Côte d’Ivoire and a $458 million farm-to-market compact for Zambia, signaling continued U.S. support for sustainable development in Africa.
The Côte d’Ivoire compact, in partnership with the Ivorian government’s $22.5 million contribution, focuses on expanding regional electricity trade and improving the country’s electrical grid to bolster energy security in West Africa.
The Zambia compact aims to promote inclusive economic growth in agriculture, reducing transportation costs, and increasing financing for small farmers and agro-processors. Zambia’s government will contribute $33.75 million to this transformative program.
MCC’s board also approved the FY 2025 Selection Criteria and Methodology Report (SCMR), reinforcing the agency’s commitment to rigorous, transparent evaluations of eligible countries.
