Zambia’s Participation in WorldSkills Competition Sparks Excitement for 2025 Event in Livingstone
Zambia’s involvement in the 2024 WorldSkills Competition in Lyon has set the stage for an exciting WorldSkills Africa event, set for Livingstone in April 2025. Minister of Technology and Science, Honourable Felix Mutati, hailed the success of Zambia’s participation, which has attracted the support of at least 10 global partners.
Hon. Mutati emphasized that Zambia’s presence in Lyon generated significant international interest, boosting the upcoming event’s profile. He noted a surge in registrations, with African countries increasing from 3 to 14, emphasizing the growing enthusiasm for the competition.
Reflecting on the insights gained from Lyon, Hon. Mutati expressed confidence that Zambia is well-prepared to host WorldSkills Africa Livingstone. He extended his gratitude to the African Union, AUDA-NEPAD, and fellow African ministers for their support.
TEVETA Zambia Director General, Mr. Cleophas Takaiza, highlighted the importance of WorldSkills Africa in promoting vocational skills across the continent. He urged more African nations to participate and emphasized the need for media promotion to attract sponsorship.
WorldSkills Africa Livingstone Project Manager, Ms. Precious Lisulo, echoed the call for media engagement and support for establishing the WorldSkills Africa secretariat in Zambia.
