Zambia to Host World Skills Africa Competition in Livingstone in April 2025
Zambia is set to host the World Skills Africa Competition from April 7th to 12th, 2025, at the Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES). The event will see over 1,500 participants from across Africa competing in 20 skills categories.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Technology and Science, Eng. Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu, announced that the competition aligns with the government’s agenda to boost the tourism sector.
He emphasized the significant economic impact expected for the hospitality and transport sectors in Livingstone during the five-day event.
Speaking at the United Nations Skills Day commemoration and the opening of the National Skills Competition in Lusaka, Dr. Habeenzu highlighted the importance of skills development in providing youths with opportunities to gain essential knowledge for their livelihoods.
He encouraged Zambian participants to exhibit good behavior and strive for excellence to make the country proud.
World Skills Zambia Programme Manager, Precious Lisulo, also Acting Director of Vocational, Education and Training in the Ministry, reassured that the local secretariat is dedicated to ensuring Zambia’s success at the competition.
She mentioned that a team of experts has been identified and trained to mentor the Zambian participants in preparation for the event.
The competition is expected to significantly benefit the local economy and enhance Zambia’s reputation in vocational education and training on the continent.
