EAZ President Urges Citizens to Engage in Tax Payment Ahead of 2024 Economic Summit
Dr. Oswald Mungule, President of the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ), has called on citizens to actively participate in tax payment to drive national development.
Dr. Mungule emphasized that mobilizing resources through tax compliance is essential for the country’s progress.
In anticipation of the forthcoming 2024 Economic Summit, Dr. Mungule highlighted the pivotal role of the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) in presenting its efforts to streamline the tax system.
The summit, organized by EAZ, will be held at Ciela Resort in Chongwe District, Lusaka Province, from July 25th to 26th.
Dr. Mungule stated that experts at the summit will demonstrate how taxpayers can effectively collaborate with the ZRA to fulfill their tax obligations. He stressed the significance of tax compliance in contributing to Zambia’s economic advancement and encouraged citizens to engage with the innovative tax measures introduced by the ZRA.
“The cornerstone of our country’s development is tax compliance,” Dr. Mungule asserted. “By embracing the new tax innovations, citizens can help create a more amicable tax system that supports national growth.”
The summit aims to provide a collaborative platform for the government, industry players, and stakeholders to analyze strategies for disaster navigation, economic resilience, and recovery through partnerships and innovative approaches.
This year’s theme is “Pioneering Zambia’s Sustainable Economic Transformation through Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Financing Mechanisms after Debt Restructuring.”
Dr. Mungule extended an invitation to the summit, emphasizing its focus on sustainable development, climate change adaptation, and innovative financing mechanisms.
The event will delve into the latest insights on the IMF Program and Zambia’s economic outlook for 2024 and beyond, offering participants an exclusive opportunity to engage with industry experts and gain valuable insights into the dynamic economic landscape.
