Zambian President’s UK Visit to Strengthen International Ties
Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, highlighted the significance of President Hakainde Hichilema’s visit to the United Kingdom.
Speaking at Charter House in Lusaka, Hon. Haimbe emphasized that the trip aims to advance Zambia’s interests by fostering valuable international partnerships.

The visit builds on discussions from a May 2023 trip to Scotland, which resulted in a £1 million investment for a new research facility in Zambia.
Hon. Haimbe praised President Hichilema’s dedication to maintaining strong ties within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
He mentioned Zambia’s role as Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, noting the country’s leadership in observing South Africa’s recent elections.
The Minister refuted claims of strained regional relations, citing recent representations by Zambian ministers at significant events in South Africa and Malawi.
Hon. Haimbe reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relationships regionally and globally.
