Nawa Concludes Influential Campaign Visit to Türkiye, Secures Key Support for INTERPOL Candidacy
Deputy Commissioner of Police and Africa’s candidate for INTERPOL Secretary General, Mubita Nawa, has successfully concluded a pivotal campaign visit to Türkiye, marking a significant advancement in his quest for this prestigious international role.
During his visit, Mr. Nawa engaged in meaningful discussions with top officials from the Turkish government and law enforcement agencies, aiming to bolster international support for his candidacy.
Among the notable meetings were sessions with Müslüm Aygün, Deputy Director for International Cooperation at Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Associate Prof. Mustafa Çalışkan, Deputy General Director of the Turkish National Police and 1st Degree Chief Superintendent.
“The importance of international collaboration in tackling global security challenges was strongly reaffirmed,” Mr. Nawa stated, emphasizing his vision for INTERPOL which includes the development of more coherent regional policies that serve all parts of the world effectively.
A key highlight of these discussions was Türkiye’s endorsement of his candidacy, reinforcing the support already extended by the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Mr. Nawa described these meetings as both enlightening and encouraging, expressing gratitude to Zambia’s Ambassador to Türkiye, His Excellency Lt Gen (Dr) William Sikazwe (Rtd), and his staff for facilitating the visit.
Mr. Nawa’s visit underscored the shared vision and strategic cooperation necessary to enhance INTERPOL’s inclusivity, efficiency, and impact. “My belief in the power of strategic cooperation has been reinforced,” he said. “Together, we can make the world a safer place.”
