President Hichilema Enhances Zambia’s Military Focus on Unity and Technological Advancement
In a momentous ceremony held on 30th May, 2024 at the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) No. 46 and No. 47 Commissioning and Wings Parade, President Hakainde Hichilema marked a historic occasion as the largest contingent of Air Force officer cadets graduated since Zambia’s independence.
A total of 470 newly commissioned officers, drawn from all ten provinces of the nation, were celebrated for their dedication and commitment to serving their country.
President Hichilema, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, delivered a stirring address, emphasizing the crucial role of peace and stability in fostering national development.
He underscored the responsibility of the newly commissioned officers to uphold discipline and safeguard Zambia’s sovereignty against both external and internal threats.
Moreover, President Hichilema highlighted the imperative of promoting unity and equality within the nation, stressing the principles of “One Zambia, One Nation, and One People.”
In a significant directive, he announced plans to enhance the curriculum of all Armed and Security Forces to include a focus on national unity and equality.
Recognizing the importance of technological advancement in modern defense strategies, President Hichilema outlined plans to integrate technology within the armed forces.
This initiative aims to enhance collaboration and partnership among various military wings while promoting operational unity across Defense and Security Departments.
The President also emphasized the importance of fairness and equity in the career progression of military personnel, signaling a commitment to ensuring opportunities for deserving individuals within the armed forces.
The ceremony concluded with a display of military prowess and precision, as the newly commissioned officers participated in a Wings Parade, showcasing their readiness to serve and protect Zambia.
