New Chief Bunda Bunda Installed in Lusaka Province

Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata presided over the installation of Chief Bunda Bunda the Eleventh on Saturday.

The ceremony marked the end of a long-standing succession dispute that had plagued the chiefdom since the passing of Chief Bunda Bunda the Tenth in 2013.

Mulyata emphasized the importance of unity and peace for development within the chiefdom.

She commended traditional leaders’ historical role in promoting good governance and social well-being.

Highlighting the need for continued stability, she urged Chief Bunda Bunda to foster unity among his subjects.

Judge Edward Musona, representing the newly installed Chief Bunda Bunda (David Musona), acknowledged the lengthy court battle with the Tubi Kalifu family.

He expressed relief at the Supreme Court’s March 2024 ruling that confirmed the Kashimbi family, which David Musona belongs to, as the rightful heirs.

Musona pledged the family’s commitment to reconciliation and development within the chiefdom.

However, a concern was raised by Health Minister Sylvia Masebo, who is also the Chongwe Member of Parliament.

She addressed the issue of illegal land allocation by traditional leaders in Lusaka Province.

Masebo condemned the practice of Chiefs selling land without the consent of their subjects.
