No More Delays: Passport Production Back on Track
After a wave of complaints regarding delayed passport issuance, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security has taken decisive action to address the issue head-on.
Hon. Jack J. Mwiimbu SC. MP., the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, has confirmed that the previous backlog in passport production has been entirely cleared.
In a statement released earlier today, Hon. Mwiimbu acknowledged the frustration felt by members of the public who had experienced delays in receiving their passport booklets.
These delays, he explained, were primarily due to low stock levels of the booklets, which had been prioritized for emergency cases such as medical emergencies abroad and scholarship applications.
However, in a bid to enhance service delivery and ensure efficiency, the Ministry took proactive measures by ordering a substantial number of passport booklets, which were received in April 2024.
Since then, all pending passport applications have been diligently processed, printed, and produced, ready for collection by individual applicants.
“We are pleased to announce that there is currently no backlog in passport production,” declared Hon. Mwiimbu. “Our commitment to serving the general public with integrity and fairness remains unwavering.”
This announcement comes as a relief to many who had been anxiously awaiting their passports for various purposes, including travel, work, and study abroad. With the backlog cleared, applicants can now expect smoother and more timely processing of their passport applications.
